USA NATIONAL EXHIBIT

One of as many as 60 countries with exhibition space, the US exhibit will be designed to showcase the companies and works curated in context with their philosophic aesthetic in mind. The exhibition space in Prague and for the US Tour will include visual components, sound design, video projection and will be designed and constructed with attention to the practices of sustainability and accessibility. Special attention will be paid to the nature of the ensembles represented and how they choose to present their work. Multimedia presentations and invited object performers will also be components of the exhibition.

In past exhibitions, the USA exhibit has won the highest honor, the Golden Triga, accepted a Silver Award for Costume Design, and received a Special Honorary Mention for inclusivity and internationalism.

Accomplished stage designer, William Bloodgood, assisted by R. Eric Stone will design the exhibition space. A team from the University of Montana Drama Department headed by Mike Monsos assisted by Alessia Carpoca will build and execute the exhibit.

USA STUDENT EXHIBITTop

Entitled EMERGE, the Student Exhibit for the USITT/USA 2011 Prague Quadrennial, seeks to find and tap into the synergy between the student designer and the process of creation. The exhibit will contain two separate but equally engaging halves... the first of which will highlight the extraordinary work created by students from across the country in the past four years, the other will be an interactive, process-oriented workspace where American students will create new designs, while viewers watch. The newly-created designs will then become part of the display, encouraging viewers to return multiple times to see what new and exciting work has been added. To this end, we seek not only traditional submissions for display, but also a host of American students who are planning on attending the Quadrennial in June of 2011, who would like to actively participate in the ever-evolving display.

Please see the student site for more information.

Dear Theatre Designers and Architects,

Your firm has been responsible for designing spaces for the Performing Arts and I want to know about your projects..The United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) Architecture Commission is in the process of developing the Architecture Exhibit for the Prague Quadrennial 2011. (PQ2011) Every four years, since 1967, the Prague Quadrennial has presented work from more than 70 countries, from five continents, in individual countries and regions' expositions in three competitive sections – the section of countries and regions, section of theatre architecture and student section.

For the US 2011 exhibit I am looking for projects of all scales and types. From the smallest Community Theatre to the large Regional Performing Arts Centers. Showing all user types such as dedicated performances spaces for elementary schools, University Centers, for profit venues and complexes for professional nonprofit groups. All project types, new construction, major renovations, outdoor spaces, nontraditional spaces and spaces I wouldn't of thought to list, for all performance types, drama, music, dance, etc.

My goal is to show the world the broad range and the quality of Performing Arts projects built in the United States between 2006 and 2011. Please read the attached information on the US exhibit and PQ2011.

I look forward to the seeing your firms projects.

Sincerely,

US PQ2011 Architecture Exhibit Curator
