ABOUT THE PRAGUE QUADRENNIAL OF PERFORMANCE DESIGN AND SPACE
From the Edge will premiere at the Prague Quadrennial in June 2011, the world’s largest international exposition for theatre design. Often compared to the Venice Biennale, the PQ draws as many as 60 countries from around the world to participate in a celebration of the scenography, lighting, costume, and sound design accomplishments of the previous four years. Conceived during the Cold War, the PQ has served as an unprecedented international meeting ground for theatre artists to exchange ideas and participate in design related activities. Over 23,000 people attended PQ 2007, an indication of the vast influence of this event and the significance of the designs submitted for inclusion.
The PQ is composed of National (Professional) Student and Architectural design exhibitions from each participating country. In concert with the exhibitions will be the activities of SCENOFEST which comprise workshops, lectures and performances all over Prague. A detailed listing of Scenofest activities and a call for proposals will be posted on the PQ website http://www.pq.cz/index.html
